Heavy Items

heavy items, such as books, should be packed in smaller boxes if possible

place heavier items at the bottom of the box

never make boxes so heavy that they cannot be lifted safely. If a partly-filled box is already heavy, add something light on top to fill it, such as pillows

 

Boxes

make sure you use boxes that are strong enough for the job - we do supply free boxes so don't hesitate to ask for them

to make boxes easier to stack always fill them to the top, but do not over-fill

 

Other

you can safely leave any items in drawers so long as the drawers can be lifted by two people

bin bags are excellent for items such as bedding
